The drop kerb process (what actually happens)
- Site visit. We assess kerb height, road classification, sight lines, existing drainage. Tell you if council approval is likely.
- Application preparation. Drawings, photos, specification package — drafted by us, not by you.
- Submission & fee payment. We lodge the application with [Council] highways, pay the assessment fee on your behalf.
- Council review. 4–10 weeks typical. Occasional site visit by highway officer.
- Approval issued. We notify you, book the install date.
- Install. Typically 1–2 days. Road closure / traffic management arranged by us.
- Final inspection. Council highway officer signs off. Complete.

Why drop-kerb applications get refused
- Insufficient sight lines — if the new access endangers road safety, refused.
- Impact on bus stops, street furniture, drainage — relocatable but adds cost.
- Parking availability loss — on residential streets, removing a public parking bay can be a refusal reason.
- Major road / trunk road — more stringent rules; sometimes no drop kerb possible.
- Tree preservation orders — street trees may block the route.
